Instead, the films will be reconfigured to heavily feature the huntsman, played by Chris Hemsworth. Now don't get me wrong, I love me some Hemsworth and I did not like Kristen Stewart's casting, but how in the world will they make a 'Snow White' film without Snow White? This I do not understand.
As I said above, I am not a fan of Kristen Stewart, nor do I condone her actions. That said, I do not feel inclined to comment on her personal life. Her personal life is exactly that, personal--meaning none of my business. So my comments are exclusively related to her removal as Snow White. According to Slash Films, two additional 'Snow White'-centric films were planned. After which, the huntsman would spin off into his own franchise, like Wolverine did with the 'X-Men' films.
Which begs the question--should Stewart have been removed from her role as Snow White or should Sanders have been removed as director? I'm inclined to think the latter. Jodie Foster recently defended her 'Panic Room' co-star in an article she wrote for 'The Daily Beast.' I do not necessarily agree or disagree with Foster, but Foster brings up some good points. If the studio wanted to take the high road, perhaps they should have removed both of them? Why was Stewart singled out?
Sanders was the director, which means he was in a position of authority. Sanders was also married with children and twice Stewart's age. Do these facts absolve Stewart of responsibility, absolutely not, but pray tell, how has Sanders come out smelling like a rose? And why, why, why is a mediocre, first time director still directing the sequels, whilst Stewart is out in the wind?You can see my review of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' here. Charlize Theron, as the wicked queen, was fantastic and the only reason to see the film. As Theron will not be returning to the franchise, I had not intended on seeing the sequel. Despite Hemsworth's casting, I have even less reason to see the sequel. I will have to get my Hemsworth fix via 'Thor 2.'

I didn't much care for the first movie, so I'm not exactly worried abuot what they may or may not do with any sequels.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I thought the report that Stewart was out was just a rumor. Even if it's not, I assumed they would just recast the role. Maybe they could get Lily Collins. :-)
I think the idea of a sequel is rather strange but if there is the possibility of making money then people will twist the story to fit the viable possibilities. I was not attracted to the first film so I will not be watching the sequel. Usually the sequel is not as good.
ReplyDeleteI do not like K Stew at all, but it irks me to no end that there is such a double standard. Like with Angelina and Brad. She got labeled the whore who stole Brad and broke Jen's heart. Hello? Was he a mindless boob who wandered off because no one was looking and fell into the evil clutches of Angelina? Was Rupert? Takes two to tango and here we are once again listening to H-wood script excuses for those poor men who are victims of slutty temptresses.

Paul-- I couldn't agree more. The first film wasn't all that great to begin with. Just another reason the movie industry has fallen off a cliff.
Melissa-- I'm with you. I'm not a K. Stewart fan, but she shouldn't shoulder "ALL" the blame. They love to blame the women in hollywood!
