Watch a behind the scenes look at 'Game of Thrones' with Production Designer Deborah Riley. Riley created (COUNT THEM) 104 new sets for 'Game of Thrones' Season 4. This doesn't include all of the old standby sets. The featurette is only about 2-1/2 minutes long, but well worth the watch. The set designs and visual landscapes are unlike anything else on television right now. It should come as no surprise that each episode of 'Game of Thrones' cost somewhere around $6 million to make.
"On The Set" Featurette - Season 4
Spoilers: HBO has also released 16 character photos, which give us a bit of insight on what to expect during Season 4. It looks like Jamie and Daenerys are sporting some new threads this season. Also, get ready for the purple wedding (Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrel) and Lady Stoneheart. Perhaps the biggest spoiler is that 'Game of Thrones' Season 4 will depart from the books.
Casting News: HBO has shared lots of casting info recently. Two roles, Daario Naharis and The Mountain have been recast. Michiel Huisman will be Daario and Julius Bjornsson will take the reigns as Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane from Ian Whyte. India Varma will be Ellaria Sand, Joel Fry joins as Hizdahr zo Loraq, and Pedro Pascal will be the Red Viper himself aka Oberyn Martell. Admittedly, I can't say I am overly excited about all of the castings, but if there's one thing I know about GoT's is that they MAKE IT WORK.
The world of Ice and Fire comes to HBO on April 6, 2014.

I've only read the books, maybe it's time I start watching the series too?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the books, so that won't be a problem for me. I've almost caught up on the series now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for season 4! I don't usually have a problem with the changes the show makes, because I think they sometimes edit things better than the books did, but I really don't want them to change The Mountain/Red Viper scene. That should stay exactly how it was in the book.
ReplyDeleteDwei-- Yes. The series is great. You should definitely give a try.
ReplyDeleteAlex-- I am in the process of reading the books, but I keep gettin distracted and reading other things. GoTs is a long read.
Brittani-- I haven't gotten that far in the books, but I will take your word for it. I'm sure it was a great scene!
I stopped watching both GOT and VIKINGS after they became violence and torture porn. I'm extremely scared by the irresponsible direction TV is taking with violence and gore being used for immature entertainment :((( THE WALKING DEAD is similar, but that show raises important questions and tackles some extremely deep social and psychological issues and thus it has depth.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for new season! I love they are mixing things up a bit with costumes, Cersei's gowns look great.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a new season.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
I have yet to watch the show or read the books. Better get on that now!

Dezmond, I agree that the violence has been a little too much as of late.
ReplyDeleteSati-- I totally agree. I'm super excited to see more Cersei. Lena Headey is so great.
Words-_ Thanks so much!
Gina-- It's a great series.
