I am rewatching the 'X-Files' on Netflix in preparation for the'X-Files' (albeit brief) return in January. Admittedly I'm skipping the episodes I didn't like, which thankfully are few and far between. It really takes me back to my young teen and early college years. Nine years of television was a really long time. Perhaps it's the nostalgia that I'm holding on to. I don't know, but I'm obsessed with all things 'X-Files' right now. The show has returned to its roots in Vancouver, BC. I personally preferred the 'X-Files' when it was filmed in Vancouver versus Los Angeles. The EW article indicates we will get fresh episodes, no episode reboots. The first episode will begin with what else...an alien abduction.
According to producer Bryan Fuller, 'Hannibal' has a 50/50 shot at surviving cancellation. I'm sad about the pending cancellation, but I can't say I'm surprised. I am a recent "fannibal" and just started watching the show over the last few months. I've been streaming 'Hannibal' season 1 and 2 off of Prime primarily to watch Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) and Gillian Anderson (Bedelia). Hugh Dancy (Will Graham) is just ok. I can't say I'm a fan.
I think the show's biggest weakness are the Will-centric episodes. Neither the character, nor the actor is strong enough to carry the show. The show also moves at a glacial pace, which doesn't work well for American television. Another problem was the "freak of the week" format (or serial killer of the week) during season 1. The show could have delved into more interesting territory its first season, but it didn't. Producer Bryan Fuller's style worked well in 'Dead Like Me,' but it doesn't work as well with a show like 'Hannibal.' Perhaps this show would have worked better as a six or seven episode story arch, instead of a 13 episode story arch. I'm not typically one who calls for a shorter season, but I think 'Hannibals' seasons should be shortened because the writers clearly have too much time on their hands.
And yet I am still disappointed that the show may not see season 4. Fuller teased the audience that season 4 would feature the character we've all been waiting for, CLARICE STARLING. So if only to see Clarice and more Richard Armitage's Red Dragon, I hope 'Hannibal' gets a 4th season on Netflix or Amazon. Supposedly Netflix is dead in the water because of 'Hannibal's previous agreement with Amazon to release the first two seasons.
Here is another teaser for 'Fear the Walking Dead.' I really hate these teasers that don't show anything. Seriously this could have been a fanmade teaser. Stop releasing crap until you can release a proper trailer.
Now for something even more stupid, watch the new trailer for 'Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension' if only to laugh. I think this is Paranormal Activity 6. I saw 1 through 4, but didn't see the fifth one. Supposedly this will be the final conclusion to the once wonderful (now terrible) franchise. I personally hate movies that show children in danger. Now that I'm a mom I'm mush. I can't help it.
The 'Antman' posters are terrible. They look like they were fanmade. Can't a major studio do better than this? This looks like they let the 1st year intern loose. Also, unless this movie gets crazy reviews like 'Fury Road,' I may have to skip it. I can think of at least a dozen other Marvel superheroes who I would rather see in a feature film. I could see an 'Antman' television show, but a big studio movie released in July? Nah.

This Hipster Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid' is awesome. She nails the look from top to bottom.
YES, and maybe that's why it doesn't appeal to me since most superhero based TV shows look so cheap and cheesy to me, and that's what I think Antman will be...unfortunately.
That trailer is pretty lame unless you think the show is all about a shirtless guy running down the street. That Ariel cosplay is awesome, so I'll share it on Twitter later!

I always loved the show but X-Files was a product of it's time and I'm not sure if it'll work in the information age. We'll see though. The early reviews of Ant-Man are outstanding and people are saying it's weirder and better that Guardians of the Galaxy. I have high hopes for it.
I think it will. Chris Carter has always been pretty savvy. You're right it was a product of it's time. It worked well in the 90s. I think it can work well again! I hope. They brought the band back together! all of the same writers.
If Antman gets good reviews I will go see it! Terminator Genisys is getting bombed.
I'm so excited about The X-Files coming back, even briefly! I've been watching the show again (currently on Season 2) during my longer lunch breaks at work. Hannibal is one of those shows I wish I had gotten in to, and now they're talking about taking it off the air. I caught a bit of last night's Hannibal, and I was all excited with what little I watched because I am a big fan of the books/movies. Maybe one day I can catch up on the episodes of what they have, though.
Ha, I'm glad I'm not the only one! You know sometimes there isn't anything particularly interesting on tv so I end up watching reruns of the XFiles. I guess that speaks to how good of a show it was. Hannibal runs hold and cold for me. It's had some great eps, but also a lot of problems. I watch the show for Mads, but I wish the show was better.
